The NEW Deniz Feneri Lighthouse

Deniz Feneri Lighthouse has long been regarded as the finest waterfront property on the Kaş peninsula and is one which the Fairlight Jones team has been proud to be associated with since its inception. Built in 2006 by the charming owners, Turan and Gülgün, last summer ushered in a new era for the boutique hotel which re-opened after a complete refurbishment and under our new team delivering the key ingredient of the Fairlight Jones philosophy with regard to management and service.

Following an extensive renovation of all rooms, the waterfront, restaurant and grounds - together with the general infrastructure – last summer saw Deniz Feneri Lighthouse return to the top of its game with truly excellent guest feedback for both the property and new service alike. Our aim is for these to continually evolve over the years to come.

As an aside, previous guests may be interested to read the previous managers, Gillian and Ozan, have now created their own wonderful escape nearby. The adult-only Mandalina Suites offers an entirely differing concept and we’re pleased to say is also exclusively presented from the UK by Fairlight Jones.

About the Hotel

Effortlessly chic Deniz Feneri Lighthouse clings to the seashore on one of the most desirable stretches of the Kaş Peninsula.
  • Deniz Feneri means lighthouse in Turkish, reflecting the boutique hotel’s enviable positon at the mouth of the sea. Hours can be spent watching sailing boats glide and fishing boats bob towards the Kaş marina in one direction, or out into the Mediterranean in the other.

On shore, distinctive terracotta-tiled cottages lie scattered across the vertiginous, grassed hillside. These tumble down towards the sea, criss-crossed by limestone paths and hidden arches, with borders of geranium, hibiscus and rose and miniature lawns.

There are several strategically placed rattan chairs, beanbags and hammocks to pause a while to enjoy the views en route to the sea.

  • On the large, private waterfront day beds and sun loungers perch on platforms built into the rocks, with several hidden nooks and steps down to the sea at intervals.

Lazy days can be spent snorkelling in the clear waters and swimming alongside the resident loggerhead turtle. The waterside restaurant is open throughout the day – enjoy freshly squeezed fruit juices delivered straight to your lounger. At dusk it is the ideal spot for a sundowner against a backdrop of a blood-red sunset that reflects across the sea, the finest on the entire coast.

  • One of the regions best-reputed chefs has been resident at Deniz Feneri for several years and we are delighted to confirm that he remains in situ for the new adventure. The cuisine is predominantly Turkish created from local, seasonal ingredients. Languid breakfasts taken on the stone terraces are a highlight, with views across the sea and up into the gorges of the Taurus mountains. Feast on seasonal fruits, olives, yoghurt, home-made breads, pancakes, honey and cheeses. Themed evenings take place down by the waterfront and include an exquisite fish barbecue, bursting with fresh sea bass, bream, calamari, prawns and sardines grilled to perfection in the clay oven.

The Sunset Café bar located next to the restaurant is a relaxed spot in which to enjoy the sunset with an array of fabulous cocktails. Several nights a week the bar has tasteful, live music which can be enjoyed from the bar and Terrace restaurant.

  • Take advantage of the beautiful hamam for a traditional (and complimentary) soap and scrub which leaves skin silky-smooth.  It is located next to the air-conditioned gym and there is a Spa with a range of treatments including the most wonderful Balinese massage.  The freshwater pool, surrounded by sun loungers and parasols is a tranquil spot that you can often enjoy virtually to yourself (since most guests are naturally drawn to the waterfront).

There is a complimentary shuttle to and from Kaş harbour at various times throughout the day and evening, a 10-minute drive, away which makes it easy to explore further afield. Or take the local public-transport dolmus, which runs hourly, and will pick you up and drop you off at the gate alongside the local shoppers and schoolchildren.

  • Fairlight Jones offers the entire property exclusively, where all rooms are designed with a clean and minimalist feel, and all benefit from some aspect of the glorious sea views.

For something extra-special, choose one of the split-level Waterfront Suites, circular and airy with bedrooms set high on a mezzanine. Or perhaps the super-chic two-bedroom pool houses:  cool-tiled, whitewashed and set on two storeys overlooking the bay to the mountains. Two have indoor-outdoor pools: flip the remote control and a section of glass floor in front of the sofa slides open as you step into a Jacuzzi leading out to the elegant infinity-pool.

Also now part of the Deniz Feneri Lighthouse concept - and highly recommended - are the new Lighthouse Lofts situated in the adjacent bay. This pair of spectacular and contemporary two/three-bedroom villas enjoy a glorious location with private waterfront, and come complete with a vehicle, together with all the benefits of the hotel itself.

The NEW Deniz Feneri Lighthouse provides a relaxed, contemporary retreat with a spectacular waterfront location.
