The Culinary Services

The cuisine at Deniz Feneri is exceptional, amplified by the impossibly romantic waterfront setting which by nightfall sees the moon reflected in the sea (a phenomenon known as Yakamoz in Turkish).

One of the regions best-reputed chefs has been resident at Deniz Feneri for several years and we are delighted to confirm that he remains in situ for the new adventure. The cuisine is predominantly Turkish created from local, seasonal ingredients. Languid breakfasts taken on the stone terraces are a highlight, with views across the sea and up into the gorges of the Taurus mountains. Feast on seasonal fruits, olives, yoghurt, home-made breads, pancakes, honey and cheeses.

Themed evenings take place down by the waterfront and include an exquisite fish barbecue, bursting with fresh sea bass, bream, calamari, prawns and sardines grilled to perfection in the clay oven.

The Sunset Café bar located next to the restaurant is a relaxed spot in which to enjoy the fading sun with an array of fabulous cocktails. Several nights a week the bar has tasteful, live music which can be enjoyed from the bar and Terrace restaurant.

  • The Terrace Restaurant

Languid breakfasts are usually taken here on the al fresco terrace enjoying the views up into the gorges of the Taurus Mountains.  Feast on seasonal fruits, olives, yoghurt, home-made breads, pancakes, honey and cheeses.  Each day there are several traditional, homemade Turkish breakfast choices – we love the gooey cheese Gozleme with spinach or try natural yogurt flavoured with pine honey, cinnamon-spiced apples and walnuts.

The Terrace restaurant is open for lunch and serves wraps, salads and traditional Turkish flatbreads called pide which are excellent with roasted Mediterranean vegetables.  By nightfall, soft lighting and gentle music accompany the excellent menu and select Turkish wine list which includes a full-bodied Sarafin Merlot from Thrace and a cool Sarafin Sauvignon Blanc from the Arykanda region.  A perennial favourite dish is the pappardelle with sword fish and tomatoes in white wine, or try the giant king prawns.

  • Waterfront Dining

Dining by candlelight at the waterfront is memorable, as sizzling skewers of lamb or fish are served at your table with a theatrical flourish. Themed dining begins with a large selection of tiny mezze dishes accompanied by home-baked Turkish round breads. This is followed by a selection of main courses cooked on the BBQ or clay oven, accompanied by wild rice, potatoes and an array of lightly dressed salads.

The freshly-landed fish varies according to season (and the fisherman’s success) and each piece is marinated in virgin olive oil, lemon and black pepper.  You are likely to choose from sea bass, bream, red snapper, grouper, calamari, prawns and sardines grilled to perfection.
