About the Villa

The Wolf's Trail Cottage is a picturesque, away-from-it-all, romantic and peaceful escape, as far removed from mass tourism as one could ever get. A real taste of Turkey and the perfect away-from-it-all romantic and peaceful escape with a stunning setting in the forests of the Bozburun Peninsula with easy access to all its beaches, villages and harbours.

The green forests dipping down to meet the Turquoise Sea at intervals are a defining feature of the Peninsula - one of the most unspoilt locations on the entire Lycian Coast - and nowhere are Turkey’s landscapes more verdant than here, where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean.

The Concept

  • The Wolf’s Trail Cottage was built in 2017 using traditional, local stone and Fairlight Jones Assistant services are provided by the charming Turkish owner, Ayhan, who lives nearby, and is on-hand to attend to guests should they wish. He is also a qualified guide, an expert equestrian and offers private, guided adventures – on foot, horseback, or car – from your doorstep, through the wilds of the unspoilt Bozburun Peninsula and beyond.

The green forests dipping down to meet the Turquoise Sea at intervals are a defining feature of the Peninsula, and nowhere are Turkey’s landscapes more verdant than here, where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean.  The location of The Wolf’s Trail Cottage is pure Little Red Riding Hood: situated at the end of a forest track, ensconced by a thicket of emerald green trees. You will be enchanted by the pure sense of drama and the overriding scent of pine.

  • The trail gives way to a clearing and here, set on a dramatic plinth, the cottage affords open views down to the Mediterranean and in the distance to the Datça Peninsula and Aegean beyond.  Seen through the hills, sweeping down below, the seascapes are as beautiful as they come, with kaleidoscopic sunsets providing all hues of red as the sun sets over the valley and sea and into the hinterland.

Nature abounds all around and affords the opportunity to relax in utter peace and tranquillity, while breathing the purest of air. Free range chickens are kept in the grounds and guests can pick up their own eggs. Wander through the olive grove where a variety of vegetables are grown, and pick your own crudities for lunch or supper.  Dress with olive oil that is grown on site, pressed and bottled by Ayhan, which has a rare acidity much-revered throughout the Mediterranean.

The cottage works wonderfully as a retreat in its own right – complete with a stunning rural location and in-villa services - but there is also the possibility of adding in unusual adventures – on four legs or two - under the experienced eye of owner and qualified guide Ayhan.

The Villa

Note: not suitable for young children due to the layout of the property and wild grounds.

  • The two-bedroom cottage is set completely away-from-it-all, surrounded by forest, with the purest of clean air which makes it the ideal spot to enjoy inside-outside living. At dusk, an artist’s light is created by the falling sun reflected off the facing canyon, creating the most romantic of backdrops.

All around are wild gardens, laden with thyme, mint and rosemary, which seep into the valley below and merge into the natural landscape. The closest building - ten minutes away - is the owner’s Ayhan’s house, hidden from view by an olive grove which affords further privacy and seclusion.

  •

The focal point of the outside area – aside from the staggering views – is the glorious circular Jacuzzi, set beneath a pergola, rimmed by intricate stonework and affording the same expansive views into the distance beyond.

Adjacent is a sun terrace with wooden loungers overlooking the same staggering views across valley and canyon out to sea. Here there is a hammock and circular, stone and wood seating area providing more opportunity to while away the hours outdoors, and imbibe the natural scenery.

    NEW Infinity Pool for 2019

New for this year is the stunning infinity pool which will undoubtedly prove to be the highlight of Wolf's Trail Cottage.

  • Inside, there is further marriage of stone and wood to wonderful effect, and the thick stone walls ensure The Wolf’s Trail Cottage remains cool in summer and warm in winter (although air-conditioning is provided, it isn’t really necessary). The sitting room has a beamed, high-ceiling and hardwood floors with picture-framed windows, maximising some aspect of the view, while soft-printed fabrics lend a cosy feel. The sitting room is the ideal place to retreat in the midday sun or to wind-down before retiring, with a writing bureau for recording the day’s events and a feature fireplace. Technology is not completely forgotten: there is wifi connection and films can be watched on the flat screen TV.

There is a modern, built-in kitchen, complete with granite work-surface and all mod cons including a gas hob (should the urge to cook steal you) and a large kitchen table. Bedrooms are spacious with pine furniture which creates a sense of space and cleanliness befitting the rural location.
